So you have a bearskin rug and are looking for the simplest way how to clean a bearskin rug. You should be aware that a true bear rug requires special care during cleaning to preserve the rug and remove dust and dirt.
Here are the three steps to clean a bearskin rug
1. Picking Through A Bearskin Rug
Take a hair pick and pick through the bear rug to remove any large particles such as cobwebs. You should move the pick in the direction of the natural lay of the hair. Pick through the rug several times so that all large particles are taken out.
2. Washing Bearskin Rug
Dissolve a small amount of mild soap in warm water. Make sure not to make the mixture too soapy as this can damage the bear rug.
Make the sponge damp by dipping it into the water and then squeezing out the sponge.
Wipe the damp sponge over the bear rug, making sure to follow the grain of the fur. Do this a number of times until the bear rug is clean.
3. Drying A Bearskin Rug
You should then air dry the bear rug overnight and pick through the rug again just to make sure that there are no clumps of hair.
